SriLankan Airlines has temporarily suspended all flights between Katunayake and Riyadh scheduled for 8, 9 and 10 October, after Saudi Arabia closed Riyadh airport amid the conflict in the Middle East.

The airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Deepal Perera, said the suspension followed the airport closure after attacks launched by Iran.

He said the airline may have to extend the suspension if Saudi Arabia keeps the airport closed because of the security situation.

Riyadh is a major destination for Sri Lankan migrant workers, so the suspension may affect passengers travelling for work and to visit family.

Passengers who have bought tickets to Riyadh should contact their travel agents, call the SriLankan Airlines hotline on 1979, visit www.srilankan.com or ask at Katunayake Airport.
