Colombo Tribune is an independent news website covering Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans around the world: politics and government, business and the economy, sport, and news for the Sri Lankan diaspora.

What we publish

We publish short, factual news reports in English, with a Sinhala edition. Our aim is to give readers the essential facts of the day quickly and clearly: what happened, who said it, why it matters and what happens next.

How we work

  • Facts from the source. Our reports are based on official statements, court proceedings, parliamentary records, data from public institutions and public reporting. We attribute every claim to the person or organisation that made it.
  • Editor review. We use automated tools, including AI, to help prepare drafts. An editor reviews every story before it is published, and nothing is published automatically.
  • No opinion in news. News reports are neutral. We do not take sides in politics.
  • Credit where it is due. When information comes from another news organisation’s own exclusive reporting, we say so.

Corrections

We aim to be accurate. If you see a mistake, please tell us through our Contact page. We correct errors promptly and note significant corrections in the story.
