Russian aerial bombs hit residential buildings in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region and killed 11 people, three of them children, regional officials said on Saturday.
Mykhailo Semikin, head of the regional military administration, gave the death toll. Ivan Fedorov, co-chair of the region’s defence council, said at least 16 people were wounded.
The attack came a day after US President Donald Trump said he had agreed a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to buy Russian diesel. Trump said Russia would supply more than 300,000 tonnes immediately and a further 500,000 tonnes in November 2026.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticised the deal, saying it “plays into Russia’s hands”. He called it “a weak decision, unfortunately, a weak decision by strong partners”, according to a statement from the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington.
The deal comes as fuel prices rise worldwide, which affects import costs for countries such as Sri Lanka.
