The Board of Airline Representatives (BAR) Sri Lanka discussed rising operating costs, ground handling procedures and airport upgrades at its fourth Executive Board meeting in Colombo on 15 October.

The meeting was held at the SriLankan Airlines Boardroom. It was chaired by BAR Chairman Dimuthu Tennakoon, with Vice Chairman Sudesh Rupasinghe and country heads of major airlines operating in Sri Lanka taking part.

Participants considered ways to streamline ground handling, manage higher operating expenses and improve infrastructure at the country’s main airports. The executive committee also looked at ways to improve efficiency and to press for aviation policies that support the industry.

Airline costs and airport services can affect fares and flight availability, which matter to travellers and to the tourism and trade sectors.

BAR Sri Lanka said it remains committed to the sustainable growth of the aviation sector and to improving the passenger experience.
