Attacks on two airports in Saudi Arabia killed three people on Wednesday, Saudi officials said, and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility.

The Saudi General Authority for Civil Aviation did not blame any party. The attack on Abha airport killed Moroccan and Algerian residents and wounded 28 other people. The strike on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport killed a Sudanese national and wounded eight.

The Saudi-led coalition’s spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki, said forces intercepted a ballistic missile north of Riyadh and destroyed a launch platform in Sana. The claims could not be independently verified.

The attacks come as shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been curtailed because of the Iran war. This matters to Sri Lanka as an importer of fuel, since disruption to oil routes can affect prices.

Saudi Arabia and allied Yemeni forces have launched an offensive to retake territory the Houthis seized along Yemen’s Red Sea coast and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
