Police have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with the Akuregoda double murder case, accused of helping the main suspect obtain a forged passport to travel abroad.
According to police, officers of the Western Province South Crime Division arrested him on Wednesday. Investigators allege he provided his fingerprints so the forged passport could be prepared.
The case concerns the shooting of a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda, Thalangama, on 13 February 2026.
The Western Province South Crime Division is continuing its investigation.
