US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan will not be livestreamed, but that immediate families of the victims may watch it in person.
Mr Trump wrote that Hasan would be executed as scheduled by firing squad, on 3 December. The Pentagon had planned to livestream it.
Vice-President J.D. Vance, other Republicans, religious leaders and international observers had expressed doubts about the plan, according to the report. Recent polls have also shown a majority of Americans opposed livestreaming the execution.
Hasan, a former US Army psychiatrist, was found guilty in a military trial of fatally shooting 13 people at Fort Hood in Texas in 2009. Prosecutors at the time also said 31 people were wounded.
The execution is scheduled for 3 December.
