MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake told Parliament on Wednesday that the Presidential Secretariat is set to acquire 16 vehicles on lease.

He said a gazette notification on the leasing of the vehicles has already been issued.

Mr Dassanayake urged members of the government benches to look into the matter if they were not already aware of it. The Presidential Secretariat has not been quoted in response in the information available.

Public spending on official vehicles is of interest to taxpayers because the cost of leases is met from government funds.
