The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) opened Financial Literacy Month 2026 on 8 October with the FinLit Expo – Colombo at the Centre for Banking Studies in Rajagiriya.
The expo runs on 8 and 9 October. CBSL said visitors can meet financial institutions, learn how to manage their money and find out how to protect themselves from financial fraud and scams.
Six regional FinLit Expo events will follow across the island, along with awareness activities run with partner institutions. CBSL said a campaign on television, radio, newspapers and social media will support the programme.
The month includes sessions on digital financial literacy and on QR code and other online payments, which many Sri Lankans now use for everyday purchases.
CBSL said the programme is part of the Financial Literacy Roadmap for Sri Lanka, under the National Financial Inclusion Strategy.
The regional expo dates have not yet been announced.
