A landslide has blocked the railway line near Kadigamuwa Railway Station for the third time since upcountry train services resumed after Cyclone Ditwah.
A section of earth from a nearby hillside was washed onto the track amid heavy rain in the central hills. Earth from the same hillside has fallen onto the line twice before since services restarted.
Railway workers are at the scene removing the earth and clearing the line.
The blockage may affect passengers who travel on the upcountry line.
No details were available on when the line would reopen.
