Russia has accused Ukraine of attacking an oil refinery in Ryazan, south of Moscow, on Thursday, after President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine would resume strikes on Russian energy sites.
Russia’s defence ministry said four missiles and dozens of drones were intercepted, and falling debris started a fire at the site. The Kremlin described it as a large-scale attack.
Zelensky told the Financial Times he had limited attacks for three days at the request of the United States while Russia kept striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure. “We’re done,” he said. He said he would halt strikes on oil facilities only if the US supplied more Patriot air defence missiles. US President Donald Trump has denied halting intelligence-sharing with Ukraine.
Separately, naval officials said seven people were missing after a drone attack set a chemical tanker on fire off Romania. Moscow said it had hit two cargo ships heading to Ukraine’s Odesa port.
Local officials reported at least 13 people killed across Ukraine on Wednesday, according to Zelensky.
