A delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) met Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe in Colombo on Tuesday to discuss wider industrial and investment cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.

The Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development said the delegation included business leaders from renewable energy, healthcare, information technology, steel, footwear manufacturing, and industrial tanks and liners. Senior CII executives also took part.

The talks focused on identifying investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, strengthening business-to-business partnerships and exploring industrial cooperation, the Ministry said.

It said attracting foreign investment, sharing technology and expertise, and widening market access for local businesses remain priorities for the industrial and entrepreneurship sectors. For Sri Lankan firms and workers, such investment could bring new business links and jobs.

The Ministry said continued engagement with groups such as the CII is expected to strengthen economic ties between the two countries. No specific projects or investment amounts were announced.
