The Association of Creators and Publishers of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL) has suspended all licensing activities until its Annual General Meeting in November 2026, it said in a statement on 12 October.
The association said its board made the decision after concerns raised by stakeholders in the entertainment industry over the past few weeks. It apologised for any inconvenience and expressed regret over remarks at press events that may have offended industry members.
ACPOSL said it will hold a series of consultations with industry representatives to review its proposed licensing framework and fees. The revised framework will go to members at the AGM. Subject to approvals, the association intends to publish it in the Gazette.
The suspension does not affect its existing rights, remedies or legal position, ACPOSL said. For musicians, event organisers and venue operators, the pause means the proposed fees will not be collected until the framework is revised.
The next step is the November AGM.
