Sri Lanka’s youth unemployment rate stood at 17.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026, the Department of Census and Statistics said.
Among young women the rate was higher, at 22.4 percent, according to the department.
The figures show that young job seekers, and women in particular, continue to face difficulty finding work. For families across the country, this affects household incomes and decisions on training or seeking jobs abroad.
