President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, as Minister of Defence, has declared the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) in Colombo a place of detention under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act (PTA).

The declaration was made in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2509/11, published on 6 October. The President signed the notification on 17 September.

The Gazette says he used the powers granted by Section 9 of the PTA, No. 48 of 1979. The designated premises are on the seventh floor of the Labour Secretariat Building in Colombo 05.

The designation means people held under the PTA can be detained at that location.
