Sri Lanka has won the Best Food award for the third consecutive year at the Commonwealth Food Fair in Rome, Italy.
The fair was held on 26 September at the Roma Cricket Ground alongside the Commonwealth Club Cricket Cup 2026. The Sri Lankan Embassy team also finished third in the cricket tournament and won the Best Team Jersey trophy.
The Embassy took part with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. Its stall offered dishes including kottu, pol roti with seeni sambol and watalappan, along with Ceylon Tea.
Five teams played, representing the embassies of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, United Nations agencies, the Commonwealth Club of Rome and a university team. Sri Lanka first took part in 2024.
The Embassy said such events help promote Sri Lankan food, tourism and culture and strengthen ties with Italy.
