Three Thai nationals were arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake on Thursday morning with hashish valued at Rs. 51 million, police said.
Officers of the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Bureau arrested the suspects as they tried to leave the airport. They are drivers aged 22, 22 and 33, and had arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, earlier that morning.
A search of their luggage found 5 kilograms and 96 grams of hashish hidden inside cosmetic cream containers in three travel bags, according to police.
The suspects are due to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.
