Part of an earth embankment near the Kadigamuwa railway station has collapsed again, spilling soil onto the track and disrupting train services on Wednesday.
A train that left Colombo Fort at 5.15 p.m. for Peradeniya has been held at Rambukkana railway station because of the obstruction.
Railway workers have reached the site and are clearing the soil from the line. Authorities have said the track will be cleared promptly so the train can continue its journey.
Passengers travelling on the line towards Peradeniya may face delays until the work is finished.
