Army restores 53 vehicles instead of buying new ones

The Sri Lanka Army has restored 53 vehicles to motorable condition through repair and reconditioning work, the Army said.

The work was done by technicians of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) at the SLEME Base Workshops, under the supervision of the Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. It was carried out under the guidance of Army Commander Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne.

The Army said the work has led to significant cost savings by reducing the need to buy new vehicles.

Lieutenant General Premaratne handed the vehicles over to representatives of the respective Army regiments at a ceremony at Army Headquarters on Tuesday.
