The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has reinstated Kosala Senadheera, the suspended Colombo Fort Magistrate, with immediate effect.

The JSC acquitted him of all charges. He has been attached to the Colombo Magistrate’s Court and will receive his back pay.

His service was suspended from 10 July 2024 over allegations that he illegally obtained electricity and water for his official residence.

The commission, headed by the Chief Justice, reached its decision after a formal inquiry lasting 27 months, during which evidence was recorded from more than 20 witnesses.

Senadheera is the most senior special grade magistrate in the judicial service.
