Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Ajith P. Perera told Parliament on Tuesday that the Opposition will submit a no-confidence motion against Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne on Friday, 9 October.
Perera made the announcement while addressing the House, confirming that the Opposition intends to hand the motion over formally later this week.
Leader of the House and Minister Bimal Rathnayake said the Government was ready to take up the motion for debate without delay.
He proposed that once the motion is submitted on Friday, it be debated in the first parliamentary week that follows.
