Padukka Railway Station has won a merit award in the state sector at the National Productivity Awards 2025/2026, organised by the National Productivity Secretariat under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.
The station was chosen from several state institutions that applied for the national competition. It is reported to be the first railway station in Sri Lanka to receive a productivity award.
Padukka had been nominated for the state awards on several earlier occasions and has received recognition for its performance.
The award was attributed to the station staff and to support from the local community, which has contributed to managing and developing the station.
