Plans are under way to introduce the Metro Urban Luxury Transport bus service in Kandy in 2027, Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena said.
Preliminary planning began on 15 October, when a Metro bus made a test run to assess possible routes and operational needs, he said.
The exercise aimed to identify suitable routes, decide the bus specifications required and assess possible locations for bus stops, according to the Deputy Minister.
The test run is part of preparations to launch the service in Kandy next year. No route or fare details have been announced.
