Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harsha de Silva has welcomed the proposed new constitution for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), saying it could be the basis of a path free of political influence for the sport.
In a post on X, de Silva praised former SJB MP Eran Wickramaratne and his team for producing the draft.
He said the proposal may not be perfect and some provisions may need to be amended or removed after closer examination, but it now allows the Bill to be debated.
“The point is we can now debate the Bill and finally agree on a depoliticised path forward for the sport that we as a nation love,” de Silva said.
He said he hoped the initiative would help “make Sri Lanka cricket great again”.
