Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against a Court of Appeal ruling that dismissed his writ petition seeking to prevent his arrest under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

The petition concerned investigations into the Easter Sunday terror attacks. The Court of Appeal had dismissed the writ petition before the appeal was filed.

The Inspector General of Police, the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department and several others are named as respondents in the appeal.

No date has been reported for the Supreme Court to take up the appeal.
