Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas is set to take over as fast bowling coach of Delhi Capitals, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, ahead of the 2027 season.
The franchise is building a new coaching staff. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is to be head coach, and former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been named batting coach.
Former India leg-spinner Amit Mishra is also expected to join as spin bowling coach, which would be his first coaching role since retiring from all cricket last year.
Vaas has worked with the Sri Lanka men’s team on several occasions and with the Sri Lanka Cricket academy. He has also worked as a consultant with New Zealand and Ireland, and held coaching roles in other franchise leagues.
Delhi Capitals, captained by Axar Patel, finished sixth in IPL 2026 and have yet to win the title.
