Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa has demanded a clarification from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) regarding an alleged unpaid electricity bill circulated on social media under the CEB’s letterhead.
The MP requested accurate details of the electricity bill in question, seeking to confirm its authenticity.
The CEB’s response to a Right To Infomation (RTI) request filed by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Provincial Council (PC) member Nalin Hewage revealed that the board had allegedly incurred an electricity charge of Rs. 26,82,246.57 for a function held at the MP’s house from September 12 to September 15, 2019.
