The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to sign a visa exemption agreement between Sri Lanka and Thailand for holders of ordinary passports.
Under the proposed agreement, Sri Lankan and Thai citizens with valid ordinary passports may enter, leave and transit through each other’s country without a prior visa for ordinary travel.
Visitors may stay up to 30 days per visit, with total stays limited to 90 days in any 180-day period.
The exemption will not cover travel for employment, education, media activities or other purposes that need prior approval.
The agreement is intended to strengthen friendly relations and make travel between the two countries easier.
Cabinet approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to proceed with signing. A signing date has not been announced.
