Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harsha de Silva has welcomed the proposed new constitution for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), saying it could lay the groundwork for a depoliticised future for the sport.
In a post on X, he thanked former SJB MP Eran Wickramaratne and his team for preparing the draft despite doubts about the effort.
De Silva said the proposed constitution may not be perfect and some provisions might need to be amended or removed after closer study.
“The point is we can now debate the Bill and finally agree on a depoliticised path forward for the sport that we as a nation love,” he said.
The proposal now moves to debate as a Bill.
