Total government expenditure is projected to rise to about Rs. 4,992 billion in 2027 from Rs. 4,545 billion in 2026, according to the Appropriation Bill presented to Parliament on 7 October.
Health receives Rs. 590 billion, up from Rs. 514 billion. Education gets Rs. 328 billion, up from Rs. 301 billion, and public security Rs. 230 billion, up from Rs. 183 billion.
Defence rises slightly to Rs. 458 billion from Rs. 455 billion. The allocation for the President is Rs. 11.2 billion, compared with Rs. 8.2 billion in 2026, and the Prime Minister’s is Rs. 1.02 billion, compared with Rs. 898 million.
The bill shows capital spending on education, defence and health below recurrent spending, as in the past year. Larger capital allocations go to the ministries of transport, highways and urban development, agriculture, energy and housing.
The allocations set how much the state can spend on services such as hospitals, schools and roads next year.
